Testimonials

Counsellor Celia Jarvis sits on a pink sofa and has long blonde hair. She is wearing a blue jumper, black trousers and an empathic expression.

Wondering about working with me, but wanting to know how it went for other people? Well I can tell you a little more…but not a lot.

That’s because confidentiality is at the very core of the counselling relationship, and I take it seriously. Therapy is all about you. And I’d never want to compromise that, or make my clients feel uncomfortable.

However, some of my clients have found counselling to be so profoundly life changing, that they’re eager to let others know. They want to help people who are in the same place they once were.

Testimonials from clients

“Before starting counselling with Celia, I used to wake up every morning at 5am and be unable to get back to sleep. My head was spinning with regret and my stomach was twisted with shame. I honestly couldn’t imagine things getting better.

“My friend suggested I see Celia when I mentioned I was looking for help with my mental health. She’d heard good things about her on the grapevine, but hadn’t worked with her directly.

“From my very first session with Celia I felt instantly at ease. I was struck by her kindness, the quality of her attention and her very gentle sense of humour. I’m not sure what I had imagined counselling to be like, but this immediately felt so much more familiar than I expected. Very quickly counselling with Celia felt exactly like talking to a friend – but one who’s only interested in me, asks really insightful questions and gives me the time and space I need to work through my issues. Without jumping in with judgement or advice.

But I’ll be honest – it was challenging at times. And I think everyone should know that before they start. From all the chaos in my head, we were able to eventually reach some calm and contentment. But first, I had to feel all my feelings, and understand my part in creating my situation. It was painful but necessary.

I want to say to any women who might be in a similar place to the one I was in – please, please take that first step and reach. I know it feels scary, but Celia will take the fear out of it. If you can overcome this moment of anxiety and pick up the phone then you’ll find yourself in a much better place.”

“Quite simply I feel that Celia not only saved my self-esteem but also my life. I don’t mean I’d be dead by now, I’d definitely still be living – but I hate to think how.

“If you’re in a bad place, I’d urge you to reach out. Your brain tells you you’re not worth it, but you are. And you deserve to feel it.”
